owl & bird of prey experience
This is an experience you won't want to miss. An 11th century cave house, located in the beautiful countryside of Benamaurel (Granada province, Spain) is home to a very special group of birds and animals. It's not a zoo, far from it. It's relaxing, interactive, educational and enjoyable. Each little soul has a story to tell, from Lucy the Little owl with impaired eyesight to Florian the stub tailed Meerkat. Cortijo Búho is not open to the general public but you are very welcome to visit as long as you make an appointment first. Due to the Summer heat all appointments start at 10am so that the owls can return to their cave mews before it's too warm. Winter appointments start at 11am (weather depending). Children are welcome to visit but they must remain calm and in control as the owls are easily spooked and their welfare is a priority.

USEFUL INFORMATION
There is no better way to get to know Andalucia than through the many fascinating traditional festivals. The local fiesta is the moment when every town and village strives to put on a splendid show, not only for themselves but also for those who come from afar to admire and enjoy. Over 3,000 fiestas are celebrated every year in Andalucia, including fairs, pilgrimages, carnivals, mock battles between Moors and Christians and religious processions. Each town and village has at least one patron saint and the procession is in their name. In fact, there's scarcely a day in the year without a fiesta.
